Good lighting can greatly improve the look and feel of a room, which is why it’s really important to make the right choices, especially when it comes to a bathroom!
The bathroom is often the busiest room in an household and therefore creating the right mood is essential. Despite this, from our experience, we've learnt that an awful lot of people don't really give it the consideration it needs.
As a room that should be a haven of relaxation, good lighting can positively alter the overall mood of the room. Here are some of the tips that we always share with our clients.
Soft & Bright Lights
Many homeowners struggle to choose between bright and soft lights when it comes to redesigning their bathroom. We believe that it doesn't have to be one or the other; a bathroom benefits from having a mixture of both!
Bright lights are perfect for placing on the ceiling, whilst soft lights are often preferred to be used as mood lights.
Consider the Placement of Lights
It's important that lights are positioned in a place that is going to benefit the people using the bathroom. For example, if there is a mirror in the bathroom that is used for applying makeup or for shaving, it's essential that lights are placed evenly on both sides. This will ensure that there are no shadows to hinder the task being carried out. However, you should avoid placing lights directly above the mirror, as this is likely to cast shadows below the nose and eyes.
